Obtained from the seeds of the cohune palm (Attalea Cohune), cohune oil is high in lauric acid, with it making up almost 50% of the oil content. Lauric acid has anti-bacterial properties, and has been found to be effective against bacteria that cause acne.

It is interesting to note that the only other vegan source of lauric acid is coconut oil. Other sources are non-vegan and include human breast milk, cow’s milk and goat’s milk.
